About me

I am an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at Queens College. My Ph.D. is from the School of Information at Florida State University. I received my master degree of Library and Information Science from Syracuse University in 2008.

Before starting my doctoral program in Florida, I worked as a reference librarian at SUNY Broome Community College.

I was born in Guangzhou, China, historically known as Canton. It is the third largest city in China, and well-known for food and international trade. I can speak Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. I studied Archives Science and Computer Science at Sun Yat-Sen (Zhongshan) University. After I got my baccalaureate degrees, I worked as an archivist in Shenzhen Airlines.

My research interests are in the intersection of knowledge organization (KO) and sociotechnical systems, applying them to data curation as well as the development, evaluation, and enhancement of KO systems. My current research focuses on examining bibliographic enhancement data for academic library catalogs and identifying New Yorkers’ information quality requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The courses I teach at Queens College include LSBSI 700 The Technology of Information, LBSCI 703 Information Organization, LBSCI 723 Advanced Subject Cataloging & Classification, and LBSCI 726 Data Curation. I received President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching from Queens College in 2019.
